Salem Township Volunteer Fire Department No. 1 recently received a $10,000 grant that supported the installation of a backup generator at their station in Slickville. Economic Growth Connection facilitated the funding, which was made possible through the support of Representative Jill Cooper, PA-55, using Local Share Account Category 4 funds generated from casino gaming revenue. Additional funding for this project was provided by Salem Township. The generator allows the firehouse to remain open during power outages and to be a warming station and emergency shelter when disaster strikes should need arise.
