Keystone Innovation Zone
Westmoreland Keystone Innovation Zone (WKIZ) gathers and aligns the combined resources of educational institutions, private businesses, business support organizations, commercial lending institutions, venture capital networks, and foundations forming a partnership to foster innovation and create entrepreneurial opportunities. A consortium of five higher education institutions-Penn State New Kensington, Saint Vincent College, Seton Hill University, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Westmoreland Community College, make up the WKIZ, beginning resources to support our KIZ Companies.
The WKIZ focuses on three primary industry clusters:
- Advanced Materials & Diversified Manufacturing
- Life Sciences / Bio-Medical
- Information Technology
The WKIZ offers a combination of entrepreneurial resources, tax incentives, and educational and internship opportunities to young businesses focusing on the four key areas that entrepreneurs, new companies and mature companies need to grow and expand:
- Capital
- Facilities
- Technology Innovation
- Workforce
